How Do I Write Fiction?

Fiction doesn't write itself.

Unless, of course, you're one of these guys. They got pretty darn close. How, you ask?

Writing was their life. They ate it, drank it, smoked it, breathed it. They researched, drafted, proofread, and edited until each piece of fiction was perfect.

To these guys, writing wasn't a hobby, or an activity to pass a rainy day. It was a passion and a way of life.

Don't kid yourself, though. There's no formula for writing fiction that Dickens, Twain, Shakespeare, Hemingway or any of the greats discovered. There's no codebook to unravel the enigma, no master key to open all the locks, and no silver bullet to getting the right words down on paper every time in a fashion that will result in a perfectly crafted tale.

Dickens and Twain became two of the greatest writers of all time with hard work. They wrote. A lot. And read. A lot. So to get started, here are two books that can help get you on your way.
